BOS says it chose the name Yamas, which means ‘cheers’, or ‘to our good health’ and has aimed to ‘capture the sunshine and spirit of Greece’ through mosaic lettering and bright colours on a white background.
The packaging also uses the Herculanum typeface as well as photography of the cheeses.
Colin Mechan, executive creative director at BOS, says, ‘The Greeks are passionate, flamboyant people who love their cheeses, and we set out to capture that in our designs.’
The full Yamas range, which includes feta, halloumi and saganaki, will launch in the UK next month.
BOS was appointed to the project in September 2011 following a three-way pitch.
