Design Museum launches collection app
The Design Museum is launching an iPad app, developed with digital consultancy twentysix, which lets users explore items in the museum’s collection.
The iPad Collection App features 59 objects from the Design Museum’s collection, inlcuding the Anglepoise lamp, the Kindle and The Face magazine.
Users will be able to explore each object through material, date, manufacturer, designer and colour.
The app includes video interviews with Design Museum director Deyan Sudjic and additional commentary from the museum’s founding director Stephen Bayley. Dezeen has created the films for the app.
The Design Museum says it will continue to develop the app as it builds its collection ahead of its move to its new home in the former Commonwealth Institute in west London next year.
The app is free to download from iTunes. It launches on the iPad today, on the iPhone on 3 May and on Android on 5 June.
