Without the pressure of the graduate shows, the exhibition is an chance to see the students’ work at its most experimental and ad hoc.

Sue Bradburn, a spokesperson for RCA, says, ‘It’s a great opportunity to see emerging trends in materials and processes. The students are more playful than for the graduate shows.’

This year, it isn’t just the work that’s experimental, Bradburn describes areas of the exhibition space as ‘very elaborate’ too.

She says, ‘The jewellery is going to be displayed in a low dark space, like a wooden cave, made up of panels that the students have constructed. Although things can change over a couple of hours.’

The show will run from 12-18 January at the Royal College of Art, Kensington Gore, SW7
