Heinz launches vintage labels for Diamond Jubilee

Heinz is reviving packaging designs from 1952 – the year of the Queen’s coronation – to mark her Diamond Jubilee this year.

The limited-edition retro designs will be used on tins of Heinz Beanz and Heinz Spaghetti. Heinz says it worked with brand realisation consultancy Gilchrist on the designs.

Heinz says it took the historic labels and worked with Gilchrist to create a replica, with some added consumer messaging.

The vintage labels feature the slogan ‘celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee’ as well as a front-of-pack flash saying ‘Heinz serving the nation for more than 60 years’.

Katherine Broadley, senior brand manager at Heinz, says the new cans will ‘honour our British heritage as well as provide retailers with an opportunity to capitalise on sales in time for the big celebration’.

The new designs will launch next month.

Hope they’re not planning to use the same tin manufacturer that they did in 1952. they weight at least 3 times heavier. Not quite cast iron, but back then alunimium wasn’t so widely used or available.
