Kinetica Art Fair
Art Fair Kinetica is back next year for a fourth edition (check out this year’s show here), keeping its remit to focus on ‘kinetic, robotic, sound, light and time-based art’.
This year, the London exhibition is hosting a special tribute exhibition to science genius Alan Turing, to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, as well as a special show from artists on Kinetica’s Oxygen membership scheme.
The Turing show brings together work from artists including Roman Verostko, Boredom Research and Patrick Tresset and promises to investigaye Turing’s influence on art and contemporary culture. Given that Turing invented the digital computer, cracked the enigma code and redefined the science of artificial engineering it’s fair to say there’s quite a lot for them to work with.
Meanwhile the Oxygen exhibition – Art of Universal Knowledge – promises to examine (deep breath) ‘the connections between space, science, nature, astrology and artistic interpretations of time, transformation and energy in reference to 2012 as the end of a 5000-year-old era which signifies change and transformation. Wow. Ronin Cho, David Ogle and Pascal Betteux are among the artists contributing.
Also on show will be light installations from David Press, laser sculptures from András Mengyàn and architectural models from Studio Roosegarde.
Kinetica is at Ambika P3, Marylebone Road, London NW1 from 9-12 February 2012.
