Northern Arts Uncovered
A new Leeds event will showcase emerging UK and international art and design talent.
Northern Arts Uncovered on April 21 is a day-long exhibition of 20 artists’ work. Pieces by graphic designers and digital artists will join the works of photographers, illustrators and fine artists.
The artists were selected from a pool of more than 100 applicants including students and professionals. The event aims to celebrate Northern talent and features a number of local artists alongside pieces produced internationally.
Highlights include Sarah May Duffill’s tarot card-inspired digital collages and MNK CREW’s graphic prints of monkeys.
The exhibition at Leeds Gallery has been curated by Leeds University graduate Helen Brady and arts events organiser Victoria Rossiter.
Rossiter says, ‘Everything in the art world is London-based, I’m sick of it. We’re giving emerging artists from around the country a way to exhibit cheaply. The diverse works on show contrast with and compliment each other. There’s something that everyone will like.’
Tickets for the event cost £5 and are available online with proceeds raising money for charity, Art Fund.
Northern Arts Uncovered will be held on April 21 at Leeds Gallery, Munro House, York Street, Leeds, LS9. Tickets are available from http://www.northernartsuncovered.co.uk/
Hurray for this!
Yes there are people living beyond the Watford gap. ( yes I am northern)
Just a shame it’s a one day event…
I would be interested in going but I’m not paying £5.
It was an excellent showcase, well-organised and friendly, and a pleasure to be a part of.
I’m presuming this comments box is monitored (as my last comment hasn’t appeared) – any chance of correcting the typo on my name that appears in the article (first image) – Feraciour, not Fercaiour 🙂 Thanks design week!
