Open air street gallery
Under an open sky, fully exposed to the elements, London’s Mortimer Street will become a 114m photography gallery next week.
The Fitzroy Place Open Air Street Gallery Exhibition is a celebration of ‘the spirit of the Fitzrovia area’ say organisers.
A selection of 44 photographs taken from the recent Fitzrovia Photography Prize, including the winner Julian Wakeling and two runners up Julija Svetlova & Kayne Li Lui Sang, will be displayed.
All images have been taken from within a 1 mile catchment area of organising gallery Diemar/Noble and taken by professional and amateur photographers based locally, nationally and internationally.
Laura Noble, curator and co-founder of Diemar / Noble Photography says, ‘The response to the exhibit in the gallery was tremendous and I feel that bringing it to a wider audience can only encourage more people to feel as enthusiastic about the area as we do.’
Fitzroy Place Open Air Street Gallery Exhibition takes place on Mortimer Street, London, W1, on the site of the former Middlesex hospital from 21 February.
