Hogarth prints are animated for new Blacks club website

London members’ club Blacks has launched a new website, which features an animation of Hogarth prints that hang on the club’s walls.

The new site comes after Caroline Towning took over as managing director of Blacks earlier this year.

The site has been created by Overthrow Digital, while the Hogarth animation was developed by Hugo Moss at Huge Designs.

The tromp l’oeil animation takes its cue from the Hogarth prints that line the walls of the club. Moss aims to keep it fresh by adding other effects over time.

Elsewhere, the website features an events calendar as well as details about the food and drink at the club. Blacks is a “dog friendly” club and portraits of dogs shot by photographer Tony Briggs are also used on the site.

The new site launches following the refurbishment of the Blacks club – which is in a listed Georgian townhouse in Soho.

This has included the installation of a new bar – hand-crafted from one of the club’s original 18th-century dining tables. A new kitchen will follow in 2015.
