A £1m project to create a state-of-the-art indoor golf venue is being designed by Edinburgh consultancy 442 Design.

The 465m2 venue, called The Clubhouse, is set to open in Edinburgh Quay, Fountainbridge in May and will feature six of the latest full swing simulators, recreating more than 50 golf courses from around the world.

442 Design has been charged with designing an interior scheme that can combine the latest in technology with the atmosphere of a contemporary bar and restaurant. The group will also design The Clubhouse’s brand identity. According to consultancy creative director Kevin Rettie, the venue will offer golf ‘without the usual dress code restrictions and stuffiness of traditional establishments’.

The consultancy was appointed to the project on the strength of its recent work with Scottish Media Group and Sheffield United, according to director David Dunn.
