Design Council holds tender for design advisor

The Design Council is to hold a public tender for an external project advisor to develop its work on the mooted national design centre for London.

The idea for a network of centres around the UK with a physical hub based in the capital was first outlined in the Cox Review by Design Council chairman Sir George Cox two years ago. However, exploratory plans developed by the London Development Agency over the past 12 months have not yet materialised in the public domain.

LDA has yet to announce how it will develop its involvement in the venture, following an industry consultation completed at the end of last year by Graham Hitchen. Hitchen was named project director for the National Centre for Design and Innovation by the LDA last summer (DW 20 July 2006).
