Virgin spaceship on display

Seymour Powell’s prototype for Virgin Galactic’s spaceship cabin interiors went on show at the Science Museum yesterday, giving visitors a taste of what the world’s first space tourism vehicle will look like.

The 9m cabin mock-up will be fitted inside SpaceShipTwo, a craft based on a blueprint by aviation designer Burt Rutan and space entrepreneur Paul Allen. In the UK for the first time, the cabin will be on display in the Antenna science news gallery, at the Science Museum, until 23 February.

Virgin Galactic hopes to take tourists into space from 2009.
