Selfridges stages street fashion photo exhibition

Selfridges today unveils an exhibition of photographs of London street fashion, in collaboration with The Photographers’ Gallery.

Exactitudes features 88 works by Dutch photographer Ari Versluis and stylist Ellie Uyttenbroek. It takes place in the Ultralounge of Selfridges’ London store.

Designed by Selfridges’ in-store creative team and curated by Raphaëlle Stopin and Michel Mallard, the exhibition comprises groups of 12 images of people, or ‘exactitudes’. The subjects are all portrayed in identical frames and in the same pose. So far, Versluis has documented street fashion styles in Beijing, Bordeaux, Cape Verde, Casablanca, New York and Rio de Janeiro.

Selfridges and The Photographers’ Gallery are commissioning Versluis to take six further pictures during his three-week residency.

Scouts will tour the department store looking for people to photograph, and the resulting images will be unveiled there on 4 April.
