Exhibition to look at sustainable packaging

The sustainability of packaging will be the subject of a forthcoming exhibition at the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising.

Packaging a Sustainable Future will trace the development of packaging over the past century, as well as looking at how manufacturers, retailers and designers are working together to adopt a more environmentally friendly approach.

The museum has invited brand owners and packaging companies to submit past, current or soon-to-launch products for the exhibition by the end of February.

A spokeswoman for the museum says the exhibits are still being curated by museum founder Robert Opie.

The exhibition will be supported by a series of seminars and a design competition.

Packaging a Sustainable Future runs at the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising, Colville Mews, Lonsdale Road, London W11 from 31 March until 29 November.

As a graphic designer (raised and working) in Buenos AIres, Argentina, I have enormous obstacles with clients and providers to convince them about using friend-environmental materials. They both are reluctant about this concept. I end using traditional materials against my wills. Should we be educators as well as graphic designers?

I believe the only way to drive significant change is through legislation.
