James Park Associates is designing the interiors of Nigerian airline Arik Air’s fleet of Boeing B777-300ERs.

A spokesman for the consultancy says it was appointed directly, based on its reputation and work such as the designs for Japan Airlines’ B777-300ER first class seats.

Arik Air is a domestic Nigerian airline that has taken over the facilities of former national carrier Nigeria Airways in Lagos.

It also operates a route to London Heathrow.

Part of the work, which is set to roll out in the first quarter of 2011, will see JPA advise Arik Air on ground facilities, such as passenger lounges.

James Park, founder and managing director of JPA, says, ‘This is a fantastic opportunity to develop cabin interiors which combine comfort and innovation, exceed passenger expectations and attract new customers to Arik Air.’

Dr Michael Arumemi-Ikhide, managing director of Arik Air International, says, ‘We are very pleased to welcome JPA to Arik Air and look forward to working with its team.

‘JPA has a great track record of delivering superb aircraft interiors and will play an important part in helping us to transform aviation in Nigeria and internationally.’
