Together designs Royal Mail girlguiding stamps

Together has designed a set of stamps for Royal Mail to celebrate the centenary of the Girlguiding movement.

The four-stamp miniature sheet – called Girlguiding UK – is issued today. The consultancy began work on the project in April 2009, according to a spokeswoman.

Together was tasked with highlighting the four age groups of the organisation, and some of the exciting activities that they undertake.

Katja Thielen, director at Together, says, ‘We wanted to capture the fun and active spirit of guiding today, and used a collage approach that’s young, dynamic and fresh. Hopefully the girls will identify with the stamps.’

Julietta Edgar, head of special stamps at Royal Mail, says, ‘This vibrant and action-packed miniature sheet captures the many activities and achievements of an organisation which continues to shape the lives of millions of young people around the world.’

Not a very exciting range of stamps. Who would want them in a collection?
They are everything Julietta Edgar says they are not. db

I think the stamps are brilliant – they are bright, colourful and depict exactly what guiding is all about today, especially with the girls on them! Modern fun and adventures, from performing arts to sprots, outdoor adventure to international – I’ll be buying a set soon!

A brilliant, modern approach to show what Guiding is about ….. 10 million girls in the UK making the most of the Guiding movement, which has never been stronger. In response to the gentlemans previous comment; it’s not all about collecting, it’s also raising the profile of Guiding, and celebrating that an organisation has reached it’s Centenary!
