Mentor team put together for Design Ventura

A mentoring team has been put in place to work with Year 10 pupils from Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham College in London, who have won the Design Museum’s Design Ventura initiative.

The students won the education initiative, which tasked pupils to develop a product that will eventually be sold in the Design Museum’s shop, with their design for bunting, which uses recycled materials.

The pupils will now work with Nicky Place, business director at Build, Alice Marsh, head of retail at the Design Museum, and Steven Preston, manager of the Design Museum shop, to develop the project and prepare it for sale.

Place says, ‘The product is simple and great, but there are still a lot of things to be considered such as what materials it will use, where it will be manufactured and how much it will cost.’

Place was appointed to the mentoring team last week. Build has previously worked to create the identity for the Design Museum shop and has also created products for sale in the shop.

The aim is to develop the bunting for sale in the shop by the summer.
