Ten Questions for: Daniel Eatock

Artist and designer Daniel Eatock has worked on commercial projects such as the rebrand and Canal+ and the identity for the Big Brother series. He also develops his own, self-initiated projects.

When did you realise you wanted to be a designer?
I have never made that realisation.

What was your first job?
Cleaning between the spokes on my dad’s car wheels.

How would you describe what you currently do?
Beginner.

What has been the biggest change in design since you started?
Processing power.

What is your favourite project, that you’ve worked on?
Big Brother 2.

What is your favourite project, that you haven¹t worked on?
The current (ongoing) BBC Two rebrand.

What was your biggest mistake?
Not telling the truth.

What is your greatest ambition?
Daily happiness.

Who is the most inspirational person you have worked with?
Richard Torchia / Andrew Blauvelt / Katie Hayes.

What piece of advice would you give to people starting out in design?
Never try to catch a falling scalpel.
