Get set for Offset
With a line-up featuring Neville Brody, Marina Willer, Tom Hingston and Richard Turley, this year’s Offset festival in Dublin looks, er, set to be one of the best events in the 2014 creative calendar.
The promotional materials designed by Irish/Swedish designers M&E have the cool, bold aesthetic of festival artwork – as is befitting for such a stellar line-up of designers, illustrators, photographers and other creatives.
The festival started out in 2009, founded by Bren Byrne, Richard Seabrooke and Peter O’Dwyer.
With a focus on democratising the idea of conferences, there are no VIP areas or green rooms. The idea is that the festival serves as a space where attendees and speakers can freely meet and mingle, creating a less formal feel outside of the programme of talks and debates.
Among the many highlights are a talk by illustrator Jon Burgerman; insights from Canadian designer and typographer Marian Bantjes; UK consultancy Ilovedust and illustrator Genevieve Gauckler.
We’re also keen to check out Sagmeister & Walsh partner Jessica Walsh’s session, having caught her engaging and provocative talk at last year’s Adobe conference.
Offset runs from 21 – 23 March at Venue: Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Grand Canal Square, Docklands, Dublin 2. For more information visit www.iloveoffset.com. Early bird tickets, priced at €165, are available until 1 March
