DW says farewell to publisher

Design Week says goodbye to its publisher Morag Welham today, who sadly is leaving the magazine to spend more time with her family in Kent.

She took over as publisher of Design Week in March 1999, having previously been publisher of Creative Review and Televisual, sister titles to Design Week at Centaur Media.

‘I say a sad farewell to the design industry and to the many people I have had the pleasure to meet,’ she says.

Commenting on Welham’s departure, Design Week editor Lynda Relph-Knight says, ‘Morag will be greatly missed by the team at Design Week and by the design industry at large.

‘During her time with us, we have launched the Benchmarks awards for consistent branding, developed the Design Buyers Forum, celebrated our 20 years of publication in high style and launched our website, www.designweek.co.uk, among other things.

‘We have also forged working links with organisations as diverse as anti-copyright theft activist Acid, graduate shows New designers and Free Range and the Institute of Directors.

‘Morag’s role and boundless energy in driving these and other initiatives has been invaluable. We wish her well for the future,’ she adds.

Welham leaves the group after 21 years. Her successor has yet to be named.
