Tayburn has appointed Tim Holmes, former designer at Design Bridge and Blue Marlin Brand Design, as its design director.

Holmes will be based in the group’s Edinburgh office. He has a remit to focus on consumer branding projects and will oversee the creative development of Tayburn’s packaging clients, which include Glenmorangie, Princes Foods and Scottish & Newcastle.

Most recently working freelance and with Blue Marlin, Holmes has previously handled projects for brands including McVities, Barcadi and Reckitt Benckiser and received a D&AD Best New Blood award on graduating from Norwich School of Art & Design in 2001.

Tayburn managing director Simon Farrell says he has been on the hunt for a design director for about a year, before finally selecting Holmes for the role. The role was previously held by Nina Gronblom. ‘[The appointment] is a significant boost to the credibility of Scottish design as we have managed to convince a designer of Tim’s calibre to come here instead of heading back to London or New York,’ says Farrell.

Tayburn employs 40 people and has additional offices in Manchester and Istanbul.
