Graphic design co-operative Wave has been appointed to create the visual identity and website for a new global think-tank called the Steps Centre.

The name stands for Social, Technological and Environmental Pathways to Sustainability and the centre will act as a research hub linking development with science and technology studies to influence policy-makers around the world.

Wave has a history of working with organisations involved in social improvement and change, with previous clients including ActionAid, The Refugee Council and the Trades Union Congress.

‘We believe organisations concerned with social and environmental issues should bring those ideas to every part of their work, including the companies and suppliers they forge ties with,’ says head of communications for the Steps Centre Julia Day.

The Steps Centre is a collaboration between the Institute of Development Studies and the University of Sussex’s Social Policy Research Unit, Science and Technology Policy Research division. Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, the organisation is in a six-month ‘inception phase’ ahead of an official launch in the summer.
