Designersblock event at Interiors Birmingham

Designersblock will attend this year’s Interiors Birmingham show, which starts this Sunday. It is the first time the events organiser has attended the event, which focuses on mainstream furniture, lighting and interior design.

Designersblock is staging a talk called Trend Forecast, in which Poke creative director and D&AD president Simon Waterfall, furniture designer Charlie Davidson and others will deliver their interpretation of the latest trends influencing the interiors industry in 2008.

Other events taking place at the show include The Source, which organisers say will ‘provide an interactive environment showcasing interesting new products, companies and people’.

Design City will return to the show for its second outing, focusing on Birmingham’s homegrown design talent, as well as the city’s architecture.

A programme of seminars will see Paul Simmons from Timorous Beasties, furniture designer Russell Pinch and others speak about their work and future trends in interior design.

Nicolas Roope from Poke and Hulger will lead a discussion on trends in product design. Other subjects explored will include sustainability in the furniture industry, ‘trend theory for profitable design businesses’, and the psychology of colour.

Interiors Birmingham runs from 20-23 January at the NEC, Birmingham.
