Antony Gormley chairs Brit Insurance awards jury

Artist Antony Gormley will chair the jury of the Brit Insurance Design Awards, which will be held at the Design Museum on 16 March.

The awards celebrate the most innovative designers of the past year and cover seven categories: transport, fashion, product, graphics, furniture, interactive and architecture. Industry experts have nominated the top designs by teams, practices and individuals from around the world.

Director of the Design Museum Deyan Sudjic says, ‘It’s great to have such a distinguished artist chairing the jury this year. We look forward to Gormley’s very distinctive take on the subject.’

The Turner prize-winning sculptor says, ‘I am truly looking forward to deliberating the shortlist with my fellow jurors and to seeing creative solutions for evolving human needs across a broad range of categories.’

The awards shortlist and the other members of the international jury will be announced on 18 January, and the winner will be revealed at the awards dinner on 16 March. The Design Museum will host an exhibition of all of the shortlisted entries from 17 February to 6 June.
