Peugeot rebrands for 200th anniversary
Peugeot has rebranded in celebration of its 200th anniversary, evolving its lion marque and adding the tagline ‘motion and emotion’ ahead of a series of car launches.
A Peugeot spokesman confirms ‘a massive product offensive’ is planned which will see up to 14 new car designs unveiled by the end of 2014.
The refreshed logo, which the spokesman says was developed in-house and drops the previous blue-flag background, will appear on all new models and is to roll out across global communications, taking effect at UK dealerships from November, Peugeot says.
Peugeot says that the styling of its models will change, informed by the SR1 concept car which launches at the Geneva Motor show later this year and is described as a ‘stronger, more extreme and pure expression of the Peugeot style of tomorrow’.
It has also been confirmed that the manufacturer’s BB1 concept, unveiled last November, ‘is going ahead’, and plans are being made ‘to make its production viable’, the spokesman says.
The Peugeot RCZ sports coupe will be the first car to carry the new branding when it launches in May.
Whilst i believe ‘in-house teams’ can produce some fantastic work for companies, for a company as big as Peugeot and with just the one brand logo, that is a example of terrible creative work and shows another example of another big-corporate organisation not understanding the thought process and development of producing an engaging and appealing logo.
Is it a bear, is it a wolf, is it a jaguar on hind legs or a man in a silly rigid bear suit?
Either way, the key rings will surely make a useful bottle opener!!
i could make a logo for them it would save them a lot of money
I have to agree with anon, that lion is the least appealing and emotive rendering they have ever used. With the heritage that Peugeot has (graphically) this is inexcusable.
Looks more like a pussycat than a lion
Is it the cowardly lion from wizard of Oz? That is a really poor attempt at a rebrand and they could have done so much more with it! “sthick em up sthick em uuuup”
It’s ManBearPig!
It looks mummified…
shocking
Aaaarrrgh – it’s the Frankenstei-lion – It’s coming to get me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very poor – a reductive approach to the famous Lion mark, is it still a Lion? It’s just too abstracted and as for the typeface – mediocre, lightweight, generic.
As an owner of a few classic Peugeots over the years I could have happily dipped into my parts bin and found something stronger – the classic Peugeot typeface has strength, definition and pedigree that few can match, the Lion embodied strength and the suggestion of hidden power – the latest offering appears to be a melted version of the past, much like many of their recent product offerings!
Nearly as bad a re-draw as the Man Yoo red devil. How does stuff like this get through?
he last redesign of the peugeot brand was okay and hapily still present, but this new 3D render is really a useless excercise – it does not add anything to the brand. it would be best to judge though on a car; the print version definitely should not be used like this. also, the logo type is way too fragile compared to the emblem. it makes the whole feel unbalanced and unprofessional… with all respect though!
Nice try – fail
I think they’ve tried to take cues from Vauxhall’s 2008 rebrand, except instead of looking strong and dynamic, it looks more like the “in-house team” has just discovered PS’s ‘find edges’ and ‘smart blur’ filters.
Just not right!
Can anyone tell me what the typeface is called please?
Where can i get it from?
Thank you
