Gregor Muir appointed as ICA executive director

The Institute of Contemporary Arts has appointed Gregor Muir as its executive director.

Muir joins from gallery Hauser & Wirth, where he was director and exhibition organiser.

An ICA spokeswoman says Muir’s mission will be to ‘lead the ICA on its artistic vision and put artists back at the centre’. She confirmed that design will be on the ICA agenda, but Muir has not yet announced any sector-specific plans.

Muir says, ‘Now more than ever the ICA is needed to give artists a voice, allowing them to display their work while exploring new ideas in a welcoming environment.’

Muir will join on 7 February and replaces former executive director Ekow Eshun.
