Fink’s faces

Adman Graham Fink – currently chief creative officer of Ogilvy China – is set to exhibit a series of his ‘found faces’ photographs at a new exhibition in London.

Since childhood, apparently, Fink has seen faces everywhere – in scratches in concrete, in flaking paint, in knots in wood, in clouds, in fire.

Rather poetically, host gallery Riflemaker says, ‘The apparitions grew and the spirits began to follow him. Like coincidental friendships, seeking freedom of expression in life as well as art.’

Photographing the images where he finds them, Fink has documented more than 3000 ‘ghosts’ over the years.

The Nomads show presents 12 of theses images – with titles including Cardinals, Scream and Pink Mao.

Fink may be relieved to discover that he isn’t the only creative with a found faces obsession, with Suisse founder Paul Gray revealing a similar passion to Design Week back in 2011.

This is really funny but I also see faces everywhere. I dont know where it came from. Recently I have organised, with other 12 photographers, an exhibition about Hutongs ( old part of Beijing ) and I saw 5 faces in a photograph that my friend took. I did freak her out. The main focus of her picture was a heart but after I saw it: faces, including one like from a horror movie ‘Scream’

I have seen faces and images in everything i look at since birth. Coming from a poor background i see them in wallpaper patterns and stains on walls etc but have only got round to starting out as an artist and photographer aged 40 with the balls to go out and photgraph and paint these things i see but i bet i will not get paid as much money as Graham Fink for them even though they are just as good if not better.
