Architecture remains on Arts Council agenda

The Arts Council has pledged to continue to invest in architecture and design, despite its decision to suspend Architecture Week next year.

The Arts Council provided funds of up to £600 000 for regional and national events as part of Architecture Week this year, according to a spokeswoman.

‘Although we quote £300 000 for the regional and national budget, the figure for the total spend on Architecture Week actually comes closer to £600 000,’ she adds.

The budget normally allocated to Architecture Week will now be invested in other organisations with ‘an architectural focus’, as well as in exhibitions and architecture and design-led programmes, bringing total investment to about £700 000.
