Awards kick off New Designers

At the opening of the New Designers exhibition last night, Royal College of Art graduate Nutre Arayavanish was awarded New Designer of the Year for her jewellery collection.


Based at the Business Design Centre in Islington, the New Designers exhibition will present a number of design ideas throughout July, in two parts.


Part one, which begins today and runs until 8 July, will show the best in contemporary applied arts, ceramics and glass, textiles, fashion and accessories and jewellery and precious metalwork.


From 12 July, part two will showcase product design, furniture design, illustration, animation and photography, graphic design and interactive media and spatial design


Last night, MP Boris Johnson presented the awards, including the top accolade to Nutre Arayavanish for her Beyond Wearing collection of jewellery.


The runner up for the top prize was Claire McLachlan from Glasgow School of Art, with her collection of knitted textiles.


The New Designers One Year On Award went to Antonella Giomarelli for her metalwork and jewellery.

    Your News is a delight and keeps one informed & i am sure you have spent lots of time building this website, but please is there any chance of including IMAGES with your articles i ever so wanted to see the Jewelry Design buy this lady as i was unable to attend the event,
