Top sports stars launch Bahrain development

Golfer Colin Montgomerie and tennis player Boris Becker are designing a championship golf course and tennis academy in Bahrain.

Called Riffa Views, the site will include an 18-hole tournament golf course and a nine-hole short course, which will open at the beginning of April 2008.

Montgomerie’s eighth signature design, the championship course, will also be home to a swathe of leisure and retail sites, and will also house 972 villas. The course design is being carried out by his design consultancy Colin Montgomerie Design.

The Riffa Golf and Residential Development Company is claimed to be the first residential development for golf and tennis in Bahrain, and has been set up by entrepreneurs Richard Browning and Hugh O’Shea.
