Navyblue bolsters Edinburgh line-up

Navyblue is appointing six new designers for its Edinburgh studio, including three senior designers.

The move follows the transfer of Navyblue’s core design team to Edinburgh in March, leaving the London office to focus primarily on its strategic offer. This was part of a reconfiguration of the consultancy as it geared up to enter the overseas market.

Navyblue group creative director Jon Evans says, ‘Navyblue’s recent growth into international markets has led to the need to expand our creative team.’

The company anticipates that half of its business will come from overseas next year, particularly eastern Europe.

Simon McMahon will take up the position of senior designer, joining from Vancouver-based branding and graphic design consultancy Dossier Creative.

David Hunt from Edinburgh-based Emperor Design, and Pat Lee from Preston-based Wash Design will also become senior designers at Navyblue.

Brendan Conn of Newcastle-based graphic design group Element 5.0 has been appointed as a middleweight designer.

Kevin Blythe from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, and Northumbria University graduate Darren Unwin will take up junior design posts.

All six will start work at Navyblue over the next two months.

The consultancy is anticipating making further design appointments during the coming months.
