Ames boutique hotel builds on Boston heritage

US-based interiors consultancy Rockwell Group is converting a 19th-century building in Boston into a boutique hotel.

The Ames Hotel is located near the city’s financial and theatre districts and will have 120 bedrooms spread over 14 storeys. There will be a bar and dining area on each floor, as well as a main, two-level restaurant.

The restaurant will feature a collection of curios, intended to celebrate the building’s heritage.

The lobby area, which features an original marble and brass staircase and a mosaic tile vaulted ceiling, will also showcase contemporary art.

Rockwell Group’s founder David Rockwell worked with the in-house design team at the hotel’s owner, Morgans Hotel Group, to blend the historical features of the building with contemporary designs.

The Ames Hotel is set to open in the autumn.
