Designers hang works from the rafters at Borough Market

Design works by Timorous Beasties, Salt and Loophouse will hang from the rafters of London’s Borough Market as part of the first-ever Food With Thought event this September.

The event, taking place from 17-27 September, during this year’s London Design Festival, will also feature contributions from Kay & Stemmer (pictured), Tracy Kendall and Tom Kirk.

Food With Thought aims to promote interior design products including textiles, rugs, furniture and lighting, and was conceived by the rug design group Loophouse’s founder Lorraine Statham and textile company Salt’s founder June Swindell.

Swindell says, ‘We wanted to open the event up to the public, and Borough Market is a very public place. Events such as Decorex and 100% Design aren’t easily accessible.’

The event’s two themes are sustainability and food. As well as hanging works from the rafters, Food With Thought will also host a stall at the market selling canvas shopping bags designed by each of the six designers. All proceeds will go to the Borough Market charity.
