Designwerk creates Ice Age theme park ride
Designwerk has created a visitor attraction for Chessington World of Adventures inspired by the new movie Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaur.
The attraction takes visitors on a discovery trail through a chilled ice cave and into a humid jungle world, aiming to give guests the impression that they are on a film set.
Chessington World of Adventures’ owner Merlin Entertainment appointed Designwerk at the beginning of this year to create an ‘immersive, engaging experience’ appealing to 4- to 10-year-olds, according to the consultancy’s commercial director Scott Ryder.
The temporary structure, which will be dismantled after ten weeks, features a chilled tunnel, bendy mirrors, character artwork, a heated jungle area, a jungle viewing hut and life-sized fibreglass characters.
‘We had a number of challenges to overcome in creating the Ice Age 3 Adventure,’ reports Ryder. ‘Not least to create an engaging and interactive experience that kept guests moving through at a steady pace’.
