Gay couples to get own TV channel

The first gay man to have a civil partnership in the UK is launching and branding a TV channel dedicated to same-sex couples.

The branding for Together TV was designed in-house by the UK’s first civil partners, Gino and Mike Meriano.

Gino Meriano is the founder of Pink Weddings, the first British company to organise same-sex commitment ceremonies and later civil partnerships.

The Merianos have spent two months creating two logos for the channel.

‘We wanted to create an identity that was fresh and modern – something that stood out from all the other logos in the TV industry,’ says Gino Meriano.

Together TV will debut on TV Polari’s gay and lesbian lifestyle channel IPTV, and online. It will offer documentaries, films, news and coverage of real civil ceremonies.

‘The channel itself will be fun but will also raise awareness and give information about the political and legal issues surrounding civil partnerships,’ Meriano claims.

Together TV launches on 1 September.

Nice idea for a channel, but a hideous logo, the kerning is all over the place!
