AOI wants you

Have you created an illustration recently that you’re really proud of and are keen to shout about it to other illustrators, designers and, most importantly, commissioners? Then the Association of Illustrators latest call for submissions will be just the soapbox you’ve been looking for.

Images is the AOI’s showcase of the best contemporary British illustration and is now in its 35th year. Submissions for the competition are poured over for hours by an independent panel of judges – including Design Week’s own art whizz Sam Freeman – and then the cream of the crop is selected for the AOI annual and an accompanying touring exhibition.

Successful work from the AOI’s previous competition, Images 34, will be revealed in September at the launch of the annual, which will be available from the AOI website for £39.95. The Images 34 London show will include work from artists such a David Hughes, Andy Smith and Carolyn Gowdy and will be held at London College of Communication, Elephant & Castle, London SE1 from 8 – 14 September.

To find out more about how to submit work for Images 35 visit the AOI website. The deadline for submissions is 31 August.
