Arabian nights

Following the success of its first Arab arts and culture festival last year, the Victoria and Albert Museum are holding another Arabian Nights family event on 8 August.

Music and dancing in the V&A’s garden

This year’s festival will include the opportunity to build an Islamic dome in the V&A’s garden by decorating panels inspired by the Islamic Middle East Galleries. Other arty happenings include an Islamic window design workshop, geometric pin badge studio and an opportunity to become a canvas for Henna artist Bisha Mistry.

Visitors can learn to become a Darburka drum player with the Al Farabi Ensemble or, if movement is more your thing,  there will be the chance to learn traditional Sufi dancing.

The event should prove an exciting sensory experience and a really good opportunity to get younger children involved in the V&A’s impressive Islamic Middle East Galleries.

The Arabian Nights festival is on 8 August at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Cromwell Road,
London SW7.
