Heavenly recruits Andy York from Interbrand

Heavenly has appointed Andy York from Interbrand as its head of verbal identity – a new role which the consultancy says will see York challenge brands to use language more effectively.

York, who starts this week, was director of verbal identity at Interbrand and ‘will encourage brands to consider language on the same level they would consider visual expression,’ according to Nick Sunderland, creative strategy director at Heavenly.

Sunderland says, ‘[York] shares our views that we need to make brand personality and tone of voice one and the same; it’s as much about how a company behaves as it is about writing and speaking.’

The appointment of York, who will work across all accounts, follows that of Paul Franklin as deputy creative director and Gwen Kotschy as head of television, and the acquisitions of Be A Brand and Martin Lambie-Nairn’s partnership ML-N in December 2009.
