Imogen Belfield wins New Designers One Year On award

Jewellery designer Imogen Belfield has won a One Year On award for the work she is showing at the New Designers exhibition in July.

Belfield graduated from London Metropolitan University’s Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design in 2008, and exhibited at New Designers the same year. Over the past year she has built up her business and now has her products listed at jewellery retailer Kabiri’s London stores and in Harvey Nichols.

Belfield is looking to expand her collection, and is particularly interested in fusing gold and silver with porcelain and gem stones. ‘I intend to push boundaries in body adornment and to be experimental in my approach to materials and design,’ she says.

One Year On will show the work of about 40 designers who recently set up in business, as part of the New Designers exhibition at the Business Design Centre, London N1.

New Designers Part One runs from 1-4 July. It will show work by recently graduated designers in the fields of textiles, fashion and accessories, ceramics and glass.

Part Two, which shows work by furniture, product, graphic and spatial designers, opens on 8 July and ends on 11 July. A second One Year On winner, from Part Two, will be announced next week.
