Reading University appoints 17 groups to resurrected design framework

Reading University has appointed 17 consultancies to its graphic and digital design roster.

The university came under fire from design consultancies last year after it pulled the initial tender for the framework at the last minute.

The university says it pulled the original tender – which was scrapped after the pre-qualification questionnaire stage – as there was ‘considerable confusion’ among companies taken through to the tender stage over which lot they had been taken through for.

Like the original tender, this new one – which was advertised earlier this year – is broken down into three separate lots: graphic design, Web design and Web development.

The university has now appointed Leigh & Glennie, Waysgoose, Glued, Face Communications, The Consult, Precedent, Text Matters, St Cross, Mytton Williams, Goode International, Tonic Vision, Different Advertising, True Digital, Equator, Graymatter, Ogergine and C2 Software.

The consultancies were selected from 113 applicants to the four-year tender with an overall value of £2m.
