Make It Clear has designed a new iPhone app for the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew to guide visitors through the attraction with features including GPS mapping.

Appointed directly in March, Make it Clear worked on the design of the app before sister agency Make It Digital delivered its build.

GPS mapping will allow visitors to locate and guide themselves around Kew Gardens when they visit, and help them find the attraction by public transport.

Within the grounds of Kew, different attractions can be sorted by category.

Make It Clear creative director Sarah Edwards says, ‘We can show Off the Beaten Track attractions, categorised by icon sets. Everything is geo-tagged and [staff at Kew] can change locations and markers.’

Flickr integration is provided across two channels – one controlled by Kew and one for information uploaded by the public – both driven through a See Today section which will promote different areas, particularly those that are in season.

Edwards says, ‘See Today will again be geo-tagged, showing on the map where photos were taken, and there will also be blog discussion pieces.’

The free app launches on Wednesday and there are already plans to for an augmented reality update.

Very nice app. Integrates well with Google Maps, really a next generation iPhone app. Other app designers, sit up and take note. Good work Make it Clear.
