Interior designer David Collins, famed for his work on restaurants including The Wolseley, Claridge’s Bar and Bob Bob Ricard, has died.

A statement from David Collins Studio says, ’It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Collins following a short but valiant battle with cancer.

’David died this morning at 1.20am surrounded by his family and loved ones. A truly gifted and inspirational man who has left us with some of the most remarkable and treasured interiors.’

Collins trained as an architect and set up David Collins Studio in 1985.

The studio went on to design top London restaurants including The Wolseley, The Delauney, J Sheekey and Colbert, which opened last year.
