Belly Kids goes tropical
Publisher Belly Kids is celebrating the launch of its wonderful-looking new book with a suitably tropical exhibition in east London.
Dalston’s Printhouse Gallery has become a veritable papery paradise, bedecked with Matisse-esque leaf cut-outs, exotic fruits and some lovely prints.
The rather immersive show extends the ideas explored in the book, Instant Touch – ‘a tropical scratch and sniff’ – that features some gorgeous illustrations with accompanying scents.
Artists featured in the show include Sophie Alda, Annu Kilpelainen, James Burgess, Thomas Slater, Lydia Shirreff, Laura Gee, Becca Allen, James Burgess, Josh Wiley, Ami Evelyn Hughes, Lynnie Zulu, and Aaron Shunga.
‘Instant Touch was a collaboration of weird minds from within illustration and design’, says Belly Kids founder Michael Coley.
‘Together we wanted to create something to get lost in, a botanical overgrowth of leaves, fruits and forestry.’
Previous Belly Kids releases have included a Bill Murray Colouring Book, chronicles of fierce female rulers in Sister Like You and a collection of Kurt Cobain stickers.
Instant Touch runs until august 31 at Printhouse Gallery, 18 Ashwin Street, London E8 3DL
