Hello illustration!
A new show at London’s Book Club is inspired by the art of the greeting, looking at communication and its cheekier (often funnier) little sister, miscommunication.
The exhibition of work by Shaun Mills is entitled Cat Calls & Wolf Whistles, and draws together a new series of illustrations that are all ‘shouting for attention’, according to the gallery.
The pun-packed show uses Mills’ signature bright colours and surreal wordplay, taking in advice on self-learning (and self love):
A big-bootied, smokin’ (literally, as well as figuratively) woman:
And some Ramones lyrics appropriated to accompany a mistachio’d man and his Mickey Mouse-glove-sporting chum:
Another highlight is this innovative take on Google Glass-style technology:
Mills, who graduated from London College of Communication last year, will also be showing his new Hands On project – a series of works featuring hands.
Cat Calls & Wolf Whistles runs from 24 July – 7 September at The Book Club, 100-106 Leonard St, London EC2A 4RH
