Abbey Road calls on Company for brochure push

The studio famous for its work with The Beatles is using the creative talents of design consultancy Company to showcase its broad range of offerings to its existing and potential clients.

Abbey Road Studios appointed Company to art direct and produce four brochures, showcasing the business.

The aim of the 32- and 16-page booklets is to highlight that Abbey Road’s portfolio consists of recording and mixing, mastering, interactive and management and supply services which can be used for the film and broadcasting industries as well as music companies, says Company partner Alex Swain.

‘The brochures are created to be highly visual and focus on showing the raw feel of the studio’s atmosphere through photography, while the design features on the pages are kept simplistic in the style of coffee-table books,’ says Swain.

The covers display bold text in Helvetica type which are intended not to overshadow the photographs by Cathy Cuncliffe capturing the personalities of the individuals who work at Abbey Road.

The books are printed on an uncoated stock to give them a textured feel and are bound with black staples, says Swain.

The studio will be distributing the brochures to external clients within the film and broadcast sectors as well as music-based clients in coming weeks, says Abbey Road head of marketing Kerin Purcell.

‘These brochures had to show the difference between what the general consumer thinks Abbey Road is about and the business options it actually offers,’ says Purcell.

Company was appointed last year by Purcell on the back of a word-of-mouth referral.

The distribution of the brochures follows the redesign in May of Abbey Road’s website, www.abbeyroad.co.uk, by digital consultancy Saint to make it more appealing to business users.
