Lloyds TSB banks on new-look network

Lloyds TSB is poised to unveil a radical redesign of its branch network, in conjunction with Allen International.

The London-based retail and branding consultancy clinched the business last year on the strength of a recommendation, and after several chemistry meetings with Lloyds TSB former head of retail banking Terri Dial.

Lloyds TSB former finance director Helen Weir replaced Dial as head of retail banking in April.

The UK bank has charged Allen International with developing ‘a fresher, more contemporary look’ for its 1800-strong UK estate, which will be unveiled in August.

The bank is a new client for Allen International, which has previously worked on environment, branding and strategy projects for a range of financial clients including Erste Bank Austria, Bank of Georgia and National Bank of Greece.

The consultancy, led by creative director Mark Howman, is building on branch environment designs first created by the Lloyds TSB in-house design team at the end of 2006.

‘We have effectively taken over that work, and therefore have had to look at what they did, taking the positive elements and developing those. It will move on quite dramatically, though,’ reveals Allen International managing director and chairman Michael Allen.
