Vitra revitalises website

Digital consultancy De-construct has created a new-look website for furniture design company Vitra.

The homepage for www.vitra.com organises the products available to purchase under menu items ‘At Home’, ‘In The Office’ and ‘In Public Spaces’.

‘The way we have set out the site is aiming to show that Vitra’s furniture offerings are not limited to specific locations such as the living room, bedroom or kitchen,’ says De-construct creative director Alex Griffin.

The site aims to show that Vitra is involved in numerous cultural projects which are based around design and architecture, and for the first time Vitra is communicating its cultural projects online through the site’s ‘Vitra Magazine’ section.

‘This will continue to grow as we have to be adaptable, allowing Vitra to showcase any events happening in the future,’ adds Griffin.

The ‘Product Range’ menu item and the ‘Search’ function are created to enable users to access the Vitra portfolio easily, and a summary of key product details such as dimensions, materials and colours are included.

De-construct was appointed in winter 2006 by Vitra marketing director David Allemann after a four-way creative pitch. This was followed by De-construct and another consultancy creating a Vitra microsite for its Headline chairs as a test project.

To mark the launch of the website, Vitra is giving away 33 design objects in a contest where users choose their favourite object on the site. The entry deadline is 28 September.
