Jestico & Whiles works on Polish hotel

Andel’s has opened a design hotel in Poland, with interiors by UK-based design group Jestico & Whiles.

The four-star hotel – the fourth to be launched under the Andel’s brand – inhabits a 19th-century red-brick former weaving mill in the city of  Łódź.

Jestico & Whiles has created what hotel management group Vienna International describes as ‘a highly atmospheric experience which maintains the industrial character of the historic walls’.

The interior design specialist created 278 rooms, a restaurant, a brasserie, three bars, a gym and seven conference rooms. The fitness club features a swimming pool created from the former factory’s original fire water storage tank.

Jestico & Whiles opted to keep the original pillars and beams on show and has restored the 100-year old staircase and cast-iron gate.

A glass roof and skylights were installed to create brightly lit public spaces, while the hotel’s roof houses a glass-enclosed 1300m2 ballroom.
