Preddy advocates long-term client relationships

Shan Preddy, partner at business development consultant Preddy & Co, says design consultancies need to emulate advertising and PR companies and develop long-term relationships with clients.

Writing in tomorrow’s Design Week, Preddy says the design industry needs to move away from working on a project-by-project basis and develop ‘long-term clients with contracts and regular monthly fee payments’.

She says this can be achieved by offering ‘a full complement of specialists, including client-service teams’, as well as other measures such as ‘monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of design innovations’.
