Artist Gary Hume works on Pollen St restaurant

Artist Gary Hume has been commissioned to create artwork and wallpaper for new Italian restaurant Pollen St in London’s Mayfair.

The 60-cover restaurant, which is due to open at the beginning of September, will include clusters of tables at the front and a 3m-long bar with seating for diners and drinkers.

There will also be a private room for eight people at the end of the main dining area.

Hume has created three wallpapers using a different motif for each design. One of the patterns features images of cheerleaders from Hume’s 2007 American Tan paintings in a silver, gold, yellow and pink palette. Hume will also create three woven silk panels for the restaurant.

Pollen St owner Livio Bisterzo says, ‘Hume’s work is bold and visually impressive, yet subtle enough to provide the ideal sophisticated setting for Pollen St.’
