Judge Gill creates Harrods concession for giftware brands

Judge Gill is designing a retail concession in Harrods for Waterford Crystal Wedgewood and Royal Doulton.

The consultancy was appointed in October by WWRD, which owns the brands. It won the business on the strength of a retail space created for the company at a Frankfurt trade show (pictured).

When the 520m2 store opens tomorrow it will feature product collaborations between the brands and Vera Wang, Jasper Conran, John Rocha and Michael Aram.

Dave Judge, creative director of Judge Gill, says the store concept will ‘support the formal and casual nature of contemporary living and dining, as well as being flexible enough to adapt to the wide and diverse product portfolio – from tableware to crystal, jewellery and gifts’.

The new store will be a ‘destination to see the very best in ceramic and crystal’, adds Judge, who says, ‘A great deal of attention has gone into how products are housed, shelved and lit.’

Judge Gill has tried to consolidate the brands in the display space and says the heritage of the brand names and their ‘luxury values’ have been expressed through ‘a premium material palette, with mood lighting’. This, the consultancy says, ‘puts the product on a pedestal and creates a sense of drama.’
